Because that date falls after this ceremony, the 72 master’s degrees cannot all belong to that stream. That proximity is deliberate. Andhra Pradesh placed two institutes of national importance close together, so the region could function as a single knowledge cluster. The permanent campus has hosted academic activity since 2024. Before that, the institute spent its first years in a transit campus on Karakambadi Road.
Getting to the campus from Tirupati city
Yerpedu lies about 25 kilometres from Tirupati along the Renigunta to Srikalahasti corridor. Most visitors drive or take a taxi, because bus frequency on that route thins out during the day. Yerpedu also has its own railway station on the local line.
If you plan to attend a future convocation, allow extra time. Traffic through Renigunta backs up when flight arrivals cluster. A 45-minute drive can therefore stretch well past an hour.

The institute placed 33rd among Indian academic institutions in the Nature Index 2025. Eight faculty members also appeared in Stanford University’s list of the world’s top two per cent of scientists. At the time of the ceremony, the cumulative H-index stood at 57 against 17,256 citations.
One achievement stood out. Dr Chitrasen Jena of IISER Tirupati belonged to a collaboration awarded the 2025 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics. For a campus barely a decade old, that is an unusual line to carry.
