The Tirupati to Chikmagalur weekly express runs as train
17423 in the outward direction and 17424 on
the return. The service has been operating since
17 July 2025 and gives the Rayalaseema region a direct
overnight link to Chikkamagaluru, the coffee-growing hill district of
Karnataka.

It is a once-a-week train in each direction, covering roughly 594 km in about
13 to 14 hours, and it is jointly run by South Central Railway (Guntakal
Division) and South Western Railway (Mysuru Division).

  • Bengaluru access: halts at Krishnarajapuram and SMVT
    Bengaluru make it usable for the Bengaluru–Tirupati leg too.
  • Direct connectivity: before this train, the trip needed a
    change at Bengaluru or Arsikere.
